Garantiqa Maying - Family Canoe Day

In the last weekend of May - on a lovely Saturday before Children's Day - the last event of 'Garantiqa Christmas 2007' series was organised.

Our colleagues and clients' families met with each other in the Lágymányosi Bay, on Kopaszi Barrage. Parallel with the registration you could enter for a dragon canoe competition. Dragon canoe is a 12 meter long, 1,15 m wide ship weighting 250 kilograms, wherein 20 persons may paddle. Every team has a drummer and a helmsman. Tímea Paksy, the Hungarian kayak world champion who has won 9 gold medals so far, led the warm-up activities and preparation, and afterwards the qualifying round and runoff began. A motor boat took the teams - being with full of enthusiasm - to the Ireland stage. The run was really close, but finally the boat 'C' won the competition, which members received electronic sudoku besides the certificate. Another world champion, Szilvia Szabó, handed them over. Before and after the competition the participants were allowed to try the 4-seat indian canoes.

The children might participate on creative handicraft lessons with animators. The kids could go to baby play corner. Thanks to the face painters shortly many elves, pirates and butterflies run among the bubbles and bean sacs.

It was a really memorable day that should be repeated next year.
